HR Business Partner

Reports to:  HR Director

Classification:  Exempt

Salary Range: $72,000-$80,000 per year

Summary:

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will be responsible for providing strategic HR support and guidance to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. You will collaborate with various departments to develop and implement HR initiatives that align with business objectives. This is a key role in driving employee engagement, talent management, and organizational effectiveness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Employee/Management Support:
  • Coordinate with employees and management to evaluate and process ADA, FMLA, and LOA requests. 
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). 
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. 
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation. 
  • Acts as liaison with other HR functions.  
  • Provides guidance to convert strategies into result-driven actions
Benefits:
  • Communicate and assist employees with benefit information and enrollment instructions.
  • Conduct open enrollment, track benefit elections for new hires, as well as HIPAA qualifying events.
  • Manage relationships with benefit providers.
  • Complete audits to ensure benefit information is accurate and up to date.
  • ACA, EEO-1, 401K audit and 5500 filing.
Training/Education:
  • Conduct training regarding HR policies, procedures, and offerings.
  • Teach and assist managers through various processes, such as onboarding, offboarding, performance management, terminations, etc., on a daily basis.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
Talent Acquisition:
  • Educate and assist managers with recruiting, pre-employment, and onboarding processes.
  • Assist Talent Acquisition in recruitment efforts when requested (act as backup for team when needed)
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding for acquisition of new sites as needed.

Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in their respective territories.

Educational Background & Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum three years of Human Resources and Payroll experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or other related degree. A combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Ability to travel for site visits, college visits, career and job fairs, and professional meetings.
  • Must have a flexible schedule in order to work with teams in various U.S. time zones.
  • Strong level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) and web browsers.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the practices and principles of Human Resources, including employment law.
  • HRIS Experience; Paycom experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential concerns.
  • Highly motivated and self-starter. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Ability to work effectively with and influence all levels of management.  
  • Ability to generate and make formal presentations on a variety of work-related topics on a regular basis required.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, ability to diagnose problems, resolve conflicts, and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong organizational, project management and change management skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Transportation industry experience is a plus.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office
equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and
bend or stand as necessary.
